How to print and assemble an I AM Patterns PDF pattern ?

The patterns

What is included in the pdf patterns?

Our pdfs patterns contain the pattern in different formats (see the list below), instructions in English and in French.

All our pdf patterns are in the following formats:

  • A4 and US letter – print at home
  • A0 – print at a copyshop

Some of our more recent patterns also contain the pattern in A3.

For any question on our pdf patterns, please visit the dedicated page.

What is included in the paper patterns?

The printed versions of each pattern are enclosed in a beautiful golden envelope along with the step-by-step instructions booklet. If you order on our website, we send you an “I AM HANDMADE WITH LOVE” label to be sewn onto your finished garment.

Are seam allowance included?

Yes. All our patterns include seam allowances.

Do the pattern pieces overlap?

The pattern pieces of the pdf versions don’t overlap.

On most of our paper patterns the pieces overlap with each other. You will then have to trace the pattern.

The pattern pieces of the following paper patterns don’t overlap: Malo, Gaïa, Victoria, Osiris, Roméo, Juliette, Charlotte, Chouette, Vénus and Pan. For those ones you will just have to cut your size.

I just started sewing, which patterns, would you recommend?

We recommend you start with the I AM Cassiopée dress, the I AM Mimosa cape or the I AM Pan top. The I AM Malo skirt will be perfect for your next project too. If you want a pattern to start sewing stretch fabrics, you can choose, the I AM Apollon sweatshirt (available for men and women) or the Milor T-shirt (for men only).

How to make sure I print my pdf pattern at the right scale?

To make sure to print your pattern at the right scale, you have to print the first page at a scale of 100% or “actual size”. Then measure the square test. If it measures 10cm x10cm, then you can print the rest of the pattern with these settings. If it is not, make sure to review your printer’s settings. Please note that once the pattern is printed, you’ll still have white edges that you will need to trim to assemble everything.

For any questions regarding pdf patterns, please visit the dedicated page.

I have printed my pattern but I still have white edges, is it normal?

Yes, once the pattern is printed, you’ll still have white edges that you will need to trim to assemble everything.

For it to be as precise as possible cut on the outside of the black lines. Then you need to follow the layout plan of the pattern and make the dots match. They will help you to keep everything aligned.
